Call to Artists: All Disciplines

This application form is an open call to any artists, artist ad-hoc groups or arts and culture organizations seeking to lead a workshop or arts activity as part of programming initiatives undertaken by the City of St. Catharines. 

There is no deadline - this is an ongoing call for opportunities throughout the year.

Submission Requirements  

The City of St. Catharines is inviting St. Catharines based artists/artist groups to facilitate arts-based workshops, activities or performances to engage community members. 

Activities and Events

Workshop facilitation or performances may take place at the following activities or events:

• City-led initiatives
• Community/Civic Celebrations (Family Day, May long weekend, July 1, etc.)
• Culture Days

This list is not exhaustive - additional activities and events may take place throughout the year.

Location(s)

Activities and events will take place at various locations throughout the City of St. Catharines. Both indoor and outdoor locations will be used, depending on the specific activity and its requirements.

Artist’s Role 

• Facilitate an arts-based workshop, activity or performance.  
• Activate the event with fun, creative, and welcoming engagement opportunities.
• Discuss plans with City Staff in advance of the event. 

Artist Fee  

Selected artists will be paid in accordance with industry standards.

• Applicants will only be contacted if their activities are selected for inclusion.
• Applications will be kept on file and considered as needed to fulfill various programming requirements.

Completing this application

Please note a few important details about this online form before you start:

1. Support Documents. Support documents (which can include artist bios, resumes, photos, etc.) are not required. However, if you would like to submit support documents as part of your application, we suggest you collect all support documents and have them ready to upload before you begin.

2. Submissions. All documents need to be uploaded on the same computer. You should be able to return to an incomplete submission if using the same computer and the same browser. To return to the application, close your browser completely, open the webpage again (www.stcatharines.ca/callstoartists), use the link to take you to the portal. It will take you to the beginning of the page after the page where you clicked continue. Please use the back button to ensure that the information on the previous page is complete and re-save.

3. Your Records. You will receive a notification via email once your completed application is submitted.

Personal Information

Personal information, as defined in the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, and in accordance with MFIPPA. Personal information collected on this application form will be used to review applications and contact artists who have expressed an interest in facilitating and activity and/or performing. It may also be used by City staff for administrative purposes. The City reserves the right to verify all information contained in submissions.
