Memorial benches are the property of the City of St. Catharines. The City of St. Catharines reserves the right to determine the level of maintenance required on memorial benches. The City prohibits the re-surfacing or repair to any memorial bench by any person other than appointed municipal employees or agents as appointed by the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Services department or the Director’s appointed agent. No bench or bench parts shall be removed without approval. Benches will remain on site for a 10-year lifecycle of the bench. After this time, the donor can pay to renew the contract for an additional 5 years. The renewal fee will include cleaning and/or re-staining or powder coating of the bench and will be determined at the time of contract renewal. Once the contract is finished, the City will not affix the plaque to a new/ replacement bench. In these cases, all attempts will be made to return the plaque to the original donor for their retention. The City reserves the right to temporarily move or permanently re-locate a memorial bench at any time in its absolute discretion.
